Terms of Use
Last updated: September 28, 2026 · draft for review
These terms govern your use of Weeps during the closed beta. It is a technical draft — not legal advice — and will be reviewed before launch.
Points pending formal legal review: the default-on telemetry consent model during the beta; billing and refund clauses (to be written when paid plans land); wording on local use vs. the account requirement at first launch; retention periods and the subprocessor list.
1. The service
Weeps is a local-first music player for collectors: local libraries, network storages and optional cloud sync. At this stage the app is distributed to a restricted group of invited testers.
2. Account and invites
- The app requires a free Weeps account at first launch;
- Cloud features (sync, multi-device) require a subscription granted by invite during the beta;
- Invites are personal, non-transferable and may be revoked;
- Devices are registered to manage sync — no device limit is enforced during the beta.
3. Subscription and payments
- During the beta, cloud access is granted free of charge through invites/test grants;
- Paid plans will be announced before any billing; nothing is charged without prior notice;
- The subscription defines the available features; a device limit may be introduced with paid plans, with prior notice.
4. Your content
Your library is yours. Weeps does not copy or host your audio: files stay on your device or in the storages you attach. What we sync is metadata and state (ratings, plays, tags) — see the Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to bypass access controls, invites or the cost guard-rail;
- Do not use the service to distribute content you have no right to use;
- Do not reverse-engineer the backend service or abuse the API beyond normal app usage.
6. Availability
The beta is provided "as is". We may pause sync for maintenance or via the cost guard-rail — the app keeps working locally and your local data is never affected. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages or data loss caused by third parties (storage providers, the operating system). Keep a backup of your library — the app ships workspace export/import.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time in Preferences → Account. Your cloud data is removed; your local data stays with you.
9. Changes and contact
Updates to these terms will be published on this page. Questions: contact@weeps.app.
